The law provides for a parenting plan in which the parents submit a visitation schedule to the court. Usually visitation is set up for parents to alternate holidays, for example, Mom will get the holidays during the even years and Dad during the odd years. However, the standard is the best interest of the child. If there is health or safety reason that the parent should not be given visitation with the child the court will honor that and visitation will be set up accordingly.
