Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

Married or not

Hello,

Can yo tell me if I am married in the eyes of the law please. I have a ceremony performed by a Minister, after which I decided I did not want to be married to the person, so I did not file the license with the state so there is no officiant record with the state recorded. I do not want to be married. There was one witness and the minister.

Thank you very much

Karen

You should not rely on or take action based on this communication without first presenting ALL relevant details to a competent attorney in your jurisdiction and then receiving the attorney's individualized advice for you. By reading the "Response" to your question or comment, you agree that the opinion expressed is not intended to, nor does it, create any attorney-client relationship, nor does it constitute legal advice to any person reviewing such information, nor will it be considered an attorney-client privileged communication. If you do not agree, then stop right here, and do not read any further.

It sounds as if you may be married in the eyes of the church but not the law. If you never filed the license, as far as the state knows, you are not married as no official records of it exists.
