Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

separation

my husband has lived out of this country,back and forth for over one year.he claimed he was finding himself.he would come home for a week or so and off again to costa rica.he did not work in this years time,i maintained the household working and taking care of our 6 yr old.he now wants to separate. i need to know who is reasponsible for his credit card payments.i will not pay them.they are in his name only.he has about 15-16 thousand dollars.i pay mine,i pay for medical insurance,i rent a home the lease is in my name only as well as my car.he says if he leaves me the banks can come back to me and make me pay his credit card bills.he says even if we get legally separated,and he decides not to pay his credit cards it will fall back to me.please help.i can not pay his bills,and he keeps charging and keeps leaving the country to various places in south america.what can i do to protect my credit from being distroyed.will i have to pay his bills. thank you
