what type of Power of Attorney does my husband and I need for his mother regarding all her issues i.e. medical and financial? we would like to be set up so he or I can use it.

You will a Durable Power of Attorney that will allow you to handle everything but health issues for your mother-in-law. For health issues, you will need a Health Care Surrogate and a Living Will.
