Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

My ex wife filed against me in a different state to change child support guidelines. The case was dismissed with prejudice. But her lawyers are still filling things that I'm getting via E File system. They are using the same Case Number as the dismissed case. Do I have to answer to these or is this an attempt to make me think I have to respond? They are asking for my financial background. Please help!

Hello: In response to your question: I don't think they would be sending you pleadings just to harass you. I would check the Clerk's website in the County where they filed that case. Perhaps they filed a Motion for rehearing or an appeal of the Order dismissing the case. Do you know why it was didmissed?

I ask that as a parent can file for jurisdiction in another County or State other than the one where he/she was divorced in. It is a bit complicated and the last time I researched that issue, it appeared as thought he Courts had to agree to the move of jurisdiction. It matters somewhat if that parent had lived in the new State with the child{ren} for more than 6 months. It has been a year since I reseasrched that issue.

Anyway, if that County has a website where you can review all pleadings filed in the case, that should keep you aware of what they are attempting. If there is no website or you can't get a password to their website, you can call the Clerks office and ask if they will describe the activity filed in the case. 'Hope this helps. Tom Rosenblum
