Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Florida

I had a contractor that I hire and fired 2006. He did not pull all proper permits and work was not to satisfaction. I was layoff and I had to short sale my house, I could not pay my attorney fees.the contractor had 2 attorney and I had to represent my self, I show all the proof I had to the court the jug then told us that he was making his deliberation in a couple of days, I got his letter and it was not good news to me, I have to pay him $23.400,00 Money that I do not have. What will or can I do now? Am I going to jail for not paying? Don't have anything, I lost everything that I had.I'm homeless.

Does the contractor have a judgment against you or did the contractor just send you a letter? If the contractor sent the letter, you do not necessarily owe the amount he claims you do. If he got a judgment against you, then he will be unable to collect until you have money or assets. You might want to contact a local legal aid clinic for further assistance.
