Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Florida

I own a small business in Florida and purchased another business in Florida. I signed a promissory note for $ 129,000,00. I have maid all the payments although it took a year longer than originally agreed. No I have made the last payment the guy I paid off is now demanding $ 5000.00 or he is going to sue me for pain and suffering. Can he do this?

you can not be sued for pain and suffering. He might have a claim for interest for the portion that was paid late, but that is likely all.

There are no pain and suffering damages recognizable in a contract dispute. Insist upon your original note back when the final payment is made.
