Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Florida

Tree Damage

I have a vacant wooded lot in Florida. A neighbor claims that, during a thunderstorm, a tree fell from my property onto his house and damaged it. To my knowledge there were no known potential tree hazards prior to this claim.

What is Florida law in regards to liability? Who is responsible for property damage caused by a thunderstorm?

Re: Tree Damage

If your tree damaged your neighbor's house, then you are almost certainly liable for the repairs. You should have insurance against this or have trees close to the neighbors cut.
