Legal Question in Immigration Law in Florida

Going back and forth between two countries

I am a Japanese national (single, female) and a permanent resident of the United States. My mother back home was diagnosed with an advanced cancer at the beginning of this year. I have been going back and forth between Japan and US since January spending approximately 50-60% of time in Japan so far. I would like to spend at least 50-70% of time in Japan for the rest of this year, traveling back and forth every 4-6 weeks. I did seek an advice contacting at least a couple of attorneys, including the one I used for my permanent residency application, but I have never heard from any of them. Do I have to file something with immigration office to get permission to continue doing what I have been doing? Even if not, should I be worried every time I go through immigration? I am fully employed as a researcher and my job status is very secure. My bosses are extremely supportive and told me they would support in whatever they can for me to be able to take care of my mother in Japan as long as I want. Since I have never received any answers from the attorneys I contacted, I am desperately seeking an answer to my question. Please advice. Thank you very much.

Re: Going back and forth between two countries

I would have to learn more about your case, but it may be possible to make a couple of filings that would protect your LPR status.
