Legal Question in Intellectual Property in Florida

An artist has agreed to create the artwork for my book cover for free. I want to make sure that he will not come back to me in the future asking for royalties. What should I get in writing from him to assure that I am covered legally from owing him any money in the future?

pay him $10 and get an agreement that his work is a work for hire and that you have all rights to the art.

Mr. Wagner's answer is not bad. Work for hire solves all the problem, and more than token consideration would validate such a contract. However, you still need a written agreement. When profits from art are involved, everyone has their hand out wanting a piece of the pie. Avoid the lawsuit at the front end rather than pay for defending it on the back end. Get an iron-clad agreement written by an attorney, please. There is no form agreement that I know of for this.
