Re: age discrimination in employment

The Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA) is a federal law that protects older workers (those over 40 years of age) from discrimination in the workplace. It is illegal to hire, fire or in any way adversely affect the terms and conditions of employment based on age. However, this law only protects workers 40 years and older. (If you under 40 but being adversely affected because of efforts to compel your company's compliance with the ADEA you may want to speak with an employment lawyer). If promotions are not listed you may want to check company policy and speak with Human Resources or Union Representative, if you have one. If you have a specific question you can send me an e-mail.
