Legal Question in Employment Law in Florida

Forced expenses

Can an employer require an employee to pay for expensive business costs such as airfare and hotel expenses as a condition of employment? The employer also will refuse reimbursement if their client doesn't pay the expense.

I am a debt free person so I don't borrow or use credit cards...ever. Any business expenses therefore would be coming from my personal funds.

Re: Forced expenses

They CAN ask you to do it, but you don't have to work for them.

You can also typically deduct un-reimbursed business expenses from your tax returns, if you itemize your deductions.
