Legal Question in Employment Law in Florida

Hello

My name is Timothy Jackson. My question is:My former company informed me they were removing my position from the company so of course I was laid off making @$17 per hour. But this is the question.I have found out they hired a former employee who was just released from jail at $12 per hour to do the same job I was doing.During the release of employment. My co-employer informed me this was a business decision.Do I have a case here in Florida? Please understand. For the last five years I have received three raises without asking for them. That is what type of employee I was.

Thank you

Employers are free to hire and fire as they see fit, provided those hiring and firing decisions were not based on some form of discrimination. You were an at-will employee, and you therefore can be terminated for any reason, or no reason at all.
