Legal Question in Employment Law in Florida

I work for Darden resteraunts. Right now i am suspended for turning the lights off on an autistic kid while he was in the walk in cooler at work. I was never properly trained on special rules or regulations when working with him, I just tryed to treat him as a friend like all my other co-workers. The autistic guy happens to be 23 has a drivers license and works by himself. His parents are the ones pressuring to get me in trouble and I am afraid I will get fired over this due to Darden being afraid of a lawsuit. Could i sue them them not giving me proper training on how to work with this special needs individual and then firing me over something so simple that we do to everyone else?

Florida is a "right to work" state which really means that it is a right to fire state. You are not entitled to a job or training for that job. Darden is suspending you so that they do not get into trouble because they have an employee, you, who is not mature enough to not poke fun at people with disabilities.

You could get fired. They do not have to train you to show you and prevent you from being you.

Instead of thinking of suing them, why don't you apologize to your supervisor, and grow up.

You won't like this advice but its the truth and the law.
