Legal Question in Employment Law in Florida

wrongful termination

My friend just got let go from his job last week and we were wondering if he might have a potential case against his former employer. He was terminated and relinquish his position to a sales person within the industry, who is not fit or unqualified to be a recruiter. Where as he, has two years of experience as a recruiter and was told to train this person to take on his responsibilities. Does he have a case for wrongful termination? If so, what type of a lawyer would take a case like this? Would this be a labor lawyer or unemployment lawyer?

Re: wrongful termination

From what you posted, he does not have a claim. Absent a contract that would prevent his firing, an employer can discharge someone in Florida to hire someone less qualified if they want to and as long as the discharge was not because of a federally protected reason (age, sex, race, religion).
