Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Florida

I want to rent a home that has 3 bedroom for me and my husband and our six kids, 3 girls, 3 boys I will put the boys in one bedroom and the girls in the other what florida law says this is not allowed several landlords tell me it is illegal i cannot afford a bigger house

There is no state law that I am aware of that prevents this. There may be local ordinances which prevent or mandate how many people can live in a house based on the number of bedrooms. However, most of these ordinances deal with occupants who are not related to one another, and there are usually exclusions for large families.

I would ask the landlord to tell you what statute or city ordinance they are referring to and look at it with them to determine if they are just mis-reading the intent of the ordinance. For instance, it may say "there may be no more than one person per bedroom", but there is usually also a paragraph specifying that the clause does not apply to family members.
