Legal Question in Legal Ethics in Florida

I hired a lawyer in Jan 08, in FL. I paid the retainer agreement in full. By August 08, my retainer had been used up. I repeatedly requested an itemized statement. However, I did not receive one until Jan 09, stating I owed nearly 4600 dollars. Is this ethical or a normal practice?

It's not very good practice. You should receive a itemized accounting on a monthly basis. However, just because the accounting procedure was less than stellar does not mean your attorney did not do all the work he claims to have done. If you question whether your attorney performed the work, you should speak to him about it.
