Legal Question in Medical Malpractice in Florida

Don't think my Father should have died....

My father had a blood clot in the right temple and it was to be drilled to relieve the pressure. He was admitted and at 5a the following morning he complained of a severe headache. They said they found him unconscious about 1 1/2 hour later. They then put him on a respirator and didn't get him into surgery until 11a and it lasted 6 hours. My Dad never woke up, they said there was to much brain damage. I feel that if they had him in surgery first thing in the morning or right after he sarted complaining of a headache, that he would be with us today. How do I start looking into this and doing what needs to be done?

Re: Don't think my Father should have died....

Sorry to hear about your father.

To figure out whether a cause of action here exists, we need to take a look at the medical records in their entirety to ascertain whether the Hospital, the doctors or anyone else failed to follow the standard of care in this community. Once that is established, then a lawsuit can be brought against the responsible party.

In this sort of cases, it is highly advisable to get the help of an attorney to inquire and find out the relevant details. Your gut feeling about the time of surgery may very well be correct, however, it needs to be corroborated by the medical records and the standard of care.

I hope this answers your question. I would be happy to answer any further questions you may have. Good luck.
