Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Florida

One side of my neighbors fence was installed on my yard which I found out recently when I had my own contractor install a fence on mine. My neighbor was not around to talk with, so my contractor and I decided to move his fence on his yard and build mine on mine. I thought I was doing him a favor. Needless to say he was unhappy about it. What is the max penalty I would have?

From a criminal/civil perspective, your damages would probably be minor. However, the damage to the relationship with your neighbor, might be significant. With these type of issues, I recommend that you have your wife bake some cookies, take them over, and talk about what happened. See if there is anything you can do, within reason, to appease him. In other words, say you are sorry without admitting you did anything wrong.

I agree with Mr. Farraez. Any monetary damages would be minor, but you don't want a war with your neighbor. It gets very ugly very quickly. Bring beer -- works better than cookies. :)
