Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Florida

Unwanted Occupant

I recently bought my friends interest in a house we owned. He signed a quit claim deed transfering his interest. It has been recorded with the county. I refinanced the mortgage, to give him his share of the equity. Everything is in my name now. The problem is, now, he will not move out and he will not accept the money for his share of the equity. He is not helping with the bills either. His belongings are all still in the house. What are my rights here? Can I just tell him he has a week to vacate and then change the locks? This is not a landlord/tennant situation. Help!

Re: Unwanted Occupant

An action for ejectment is the remedy.
