Legal Question in Traffic Law in Florida

2 Tickets - One wrong tag #, both wrong color

I recently got 2 non-moving violations. One was for an expired parking permit, but the car color was written down wrong. The second one, which is my main concern, is because I was ''parked in a 24 hour reserved space.'' The tag # on this citation was recorded incorrectly. I wasn't present when the tickets were issued. None of my personal information is on the citations either, just the fine amount, license number (wrong in the latter case), color (wrong in both cases), and make. Both issued at the same time on the premises of a College campus by the same campus officer. Do I have a chance at successfully contesting either of these tickets due to the errors listed? Do campus laws or county laws apply here? Thanks in advance.

NOTE: This communication is not intended as and should not be interpreted as legal advice. Rather, it is intended solely as a general discussion of legal principles. You should not rely on or take action based on this communication without first presenting ALL relevant details to a competent attorney in your jurisdiction and then receiving the attorney's individualized advice for you. By reading the "Response" to your question or comment, you agree that the opinion expressed is not intended to, nor does it, create any attorney-client relationship, nor does it constitute legal advice to any person reviewing such information, nor will it be considered an attorney-client privileged communication. If you do not agree, then stop right here, and do not read any further.

I do not believe that an error in the color of the car will allow you to successfully contest the first ticket although it is simply based on the discretion of the hearing officer/judge. The second citation with the wrong license plate number might be more readily defeated or may not even be charged to you.

I would check in your county's computer system and see if the county has a sight for traffic and parking. If so, check and see how the citation appears in their records. If it does not reflect your information, I might try to ignore it and hope they do not catch the error. If it shows, ask for the hearing and argue your case before the hearing officer/judge. Good luck.
