my son has a judgement against him because many years ago he had an accident and he did have insurance but because we were new to the state of florida we did not know that when he changed cars we had to inform the insurance company so when he had the accident the car he was in did not cover the new car and now he can't get a his licence because they have this judgement against him, can they do this?

Re: drivers licence

Hello: I just read your question. I would have to look up the particular statute to determine what one must do to get a license reinstated due to this type of suspension. My initial feeling is there must be some remedy...I would not think this could be a permanent susp. I seem to recall that I filed a bankruptcy case for a client, discharging the debt from the jdgmt. and then the client got the license reinstasted. I would first look to another remedy. If you are industrious...search on-line for Florida Statutes, then look up driver's licenses...suspensions for jdgmts, etc. If you want legal counsel to look into this, let me know. There would need to be a minimal retainer for the research and correspondence. I work in all counties in North Florida. Good luck. Tom Rosenblum
