Funny Feeling
A very dear friend has recently died. Her daughter contacted me in a very round about way 3 mths later. She tells me that she and I are the only beneficiaries and that the Bank, who was appointed Successor Trustee, does not wish to do this. She sent me papers to sign appointing her Successor Trustee. Apparently, if I don't sign the papers the bank won't give her information on how much is in the Trust. She also tells me that it's not certain I will receive what was left to me because there are many bills to pay. Does it matter if my friend died in one State and the daughter lives in another? Why did it take her so long to contact me and now things have to be done in a hurry. I'm getting a funny feeling about this.

You are right to be getting a funny feeling about this. You should contact an attorney. You might try calling the bank to find out what is going on. If you are a beneficiary of a trust they should be able to tell you what is happening. It is unusual for a bank not to want to be the trustee, they do it all the time.
