Legal Question in Workers Comp in Florida

additional problems due to w/c injury

I injured my left knee two years ago while at work and that injury is currently covered by w/c. I am now facing my fourth surgery to the left knee.I am beginning to have pain and difficulties with my right knee due to altered gait and overcompensation of weight bearing due to original injury. My question is am I responsible for medical examination of the right knee through private insurance or is w/c responsible for medical coverage since the problems are a direct result of aggravation caused by the original injury?

Re: additional problems due to w/c injury

Your additional problems with your previously uninjured knee should be the responsibility of the WC carrier. If they won't authorize evaluation and treatment, see a lawyer. I suggest you have your current authorized doctor explain the relationship of your new problems to the old injury in a report and that he or she request authorization to treat the new problem. Good luck.
