Re: disability rating

You can ask for a change of doctors if you haven't already had a one time change. You risk getting an even lower rating. The carrier could ask you to pay back any money paid for the higher rating. Or, you can find a doctor on your own and advise the carrier he will be your IME. You have to pay him and the rating, if higher doesn't have to be accepted by the carrier. If denied by the carrier you have to file a petition for benefits and have a judge rule on which rating to apply. You probably won't find a lawyer willing to take your case for this little amount of benefits. The cost of the IME might be more than an increased rating is worth. If you think the system is wrong, write to your legislators in Tallahassee.
