do i need to file bankrupt?

after 6 years at the same job, i got laid off. my car payment is 655.17 and i have no funds coming in? i've never filed bankrupt, but do i need to on my vehicle and if i do will the bank come get it or what or do i call my bank and tell them i can't pay for it amymore and let them garnish my wages whenever i do get a job?

You do not file for bankruptcy "on" a particular debt. You file because of your overall situation. Bankruptcy also does not relieve you of the obligation to make payments on the car, unless you plan on not keeping it.
