Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Georgia

We may have to file for bankruptcy. We live in GA and own property in VA - is there anyway we can legally save the land for our son's inheritance?

You are asking for a guess, since no one here knows a things about your situation. See a bankruptcy lawyer. You certainly should consider whether that property has any value to pay your debts and not file BR, which should come before saving it for an inheritance.

The bankruptcy court only takes interest in property that has equity in it. There are other factors that determine whether you can keep property such as whether you are current on the property or not. My office would be more than happy to discuss your situation further.

The answer depends in part on the equity in that property and the value of your other assets, as well as the type bankruptcy you file.

I'd certainly be glad to review your numbers and answer you. Feel free to give me a call.
