Legal Question in Consumer Law in Georgia

Does my sister have a case to pursue?

My sister, who lives in TN, was hired by a company in Georgia. No Written contract signed, but verbal over the phone and email conversations gave every indication she had the job. The day she was driving down there to move in, she received a call from the company that she needed to turn around and go home because she did not have a job for personal reasons. My sister rented an apartment down there and also resigned from her other position to take the job. Emails from one partner the day before even offered to help unload truck. She was approx 50 miles from city when she received phone call. Does She have a case to pursue for breach of contract, and damages due to lost job, the expense of renting an apartment and uhaul. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Does my sister have a case to pursue?

You said she had "every indication she had the job." That is not the same as having been told that she had the job. If that had been the case, I think she clearly would have had a claim for her expenses. Even under the "every indication she had the job" scenario, I think most judges would be sympathetic to her situation and award those damages, i.e., the expenses. NOTE: She will have to file suit in the GA county in which the employer is located.
