Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Georgia

Do I owe due to ex-husbands bankruptsy?

Ex-husband received 2 properties and our business in the divorce. He had 90 days to remove my name from all he received per divorce agreement. He did not and quit paying on them. I filed a contempt action against him and he immediately filed bankruptsy. My divorce lawyer said I could do nothing about it, that the bankruptsy ended it all with me. I contacted the mortgage companies, they tell me I am still responsible for the debt but are just going to foreclose properties instead of sue me (non-payment on mortgage shows on my credit now and I cannot get a straight answer when the forclosure begins)and now a vendor with his business is suing me. I know there is a way to get the mortgages out of my name even though ex filed bankruptsy. I am not filing bankruptsy. I want to fight this. Please help me.

If you made a timely objection in the bankruptcy, the court would weigh if your husband could discharge the obligations. You might win or lose; it's up to the court.

Your divorce lawyer should have told you that.
