Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Georgia

co signing on a vehicle- what are my rights

I co signed with an individual for a car loan. I am listed as the signer and he the co signer since my credit was higher. He has been making the payments for the past 2 1/2 yrs. Now he has become delinquent for 3 months on the account. I know longer have contact with him - he will not answer his phone or return my calls. I do not have a key to the car and do not know where the car is. The lending co. expects me to pick up the pymts which I understand that but how can I legally obtain the car into my care? What are my rights as far as repossessing the car?

Re: co signing on a vehicle- what are my rights

You rights are in the paperwork you signed. Unless that includes a seurity interest in the vehicle, or you are a title owner of the car (you do not say who owns it), you likely have no rights at all to it.
