when being sued civially am i requried to appear? and what happens when a c.c. company gets a judgment

You are not required to physically appear; it's just a legal way of saying that you must respond to the complaint, i.e. file a motion to answer responding to the allegations specifically. It is vitally important that you timely respond or a default judgment may be entered against you for the entire amount demanded.

If the plaintiff receives a judgment against you, they can begin collection procedures to collect the judgment amount, e.g. garnish wages or put a lien on your house.
