Legal Question in Criminal Law in Georgia

My duaghter had her IPOD touch stolen from her purse while in class. Another student went in her purse while she was in the front of the class, when returning to her seat she asked her why was she in her purse, she said looking for candy, my daughter looked and said do you have my IPOD and the student said I didn't take your IPOD. My daughter told the teacher, and was sent to the office to file a report. I filed a police report. The little girl has since given my daughter bad looks, and makes little comments like did you ever find your IPOD. I asked to meet with the parents but they refused to meet with me. I want to know at this time wht type of actions can I take towards the student or her parents?

There is an obscure statute in GA that even a lot of lawyers don't know about that allows you to sue the parents. However, consult with a local attorney. If he/she can't find it, get back in touch with me and I'll dig it up. (Even I don't use it that much.)
