Legal Question in Criminal Law in Georgia

One year ago I was arrested for a DUI of alchol, I am also under the legal drinking age (19 years at the time). I have been put on probation for a year and have about six months remaining. Two weeks ago I was in the car with some friends and were pulled over, all three people in the car were charged with possession of marijuana under an ounce and were written a citation, but not arrested. Is a citation considered a violation of probation? If I pay the ungodly expensive fee, will I be okay? Should I let my probation officer be aware of this charge or should I just see if it goes unnoticed. My biggest fear is having to spend the remainder of my probation in jail. I am a full time student and have a great full time job as well, I would not like to put anything in jeapardy. Any suggestions on what I should do?

I would advise you to do nothing other than consult with a local attorney. You need to know how your local authorities view situations like this.

You must get an attorney. This is a big deal.

In New York, a failure to notify your Probation Officer is a violation of probation no matter what the outcome of the case. Where I practice, New york cit and long Island, most likely your PO would not violate you but wait to see the outcome of the case.
