Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

Abuse

My children's father is very emotionally abusive. He screams at them, calls them names that cannot be printed here, threatens to ''punch them in the mouth'' and to file a petition with DFACS swearing that they are deprived and insist that they be sent to live in foster care. He is a large man, an attorney, and a bully. They are frightened of him and think he is crazy. Does behavior such as this constitute abuse or would it qualify under the Family Violence Act in Georgia?

Re: Abuse

It might well qualify you for a family violence petition. Contact your local clerk of court. It might also amount to contempt of court. Consult with a local attorney.
