Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

Child custody

My ex-husband has custody of our twin children. This happened because I couldn't afford a decent attorney, and he and his mother had lots of money. He has bveen making my daughter do sexual favors for him and the boy knows about it too. They live in madison,

Alabama. My daughter got the attention of the police but they did nothing. It was just her word against his, and he seemed to be such a nice man. I need to know if there is a lawyer that will work with me and let me pay what I can on a long term basis. I want my children back but I don't have the funds at the time. I was told I need a ''modification for child custody'' One lawyer says I would have to go to Alabama but the divorce took place in here in Cobb County. Can you help me?

Re: Child custody

It is understanable that your finances may not allow you to get the best attorney, but this is one case where you need immediate assistance from an attorney who practices in this area and who knows what to do, as soon as possible. If you are paying anyway, get a lawyer whose primariy practice is in this area, and no a dozen or so unrelated areas. This is not something you want to risk. Get referrals from people you trust. Check websites to make sure this is their area, and just not something they will do for a fee. Do it sooner than later - your child's safety is at risk.

Re: Child custody

An attorney really needs to discuss your case with you and sometimes cannot answer whether they can take it on, without evaluating how it will fit into their existing case load. Please contact me if you are still interested in pursuing this.
