child custody
My neice's ages 15 and 10 are in an abusive situation. Their mother recently married and her husband is verbally abusive. Both children have voiced a desire to come and live with my husband and me. Do we have any chance at all of getting custody or temporary guardianship?

No one knows what you mean by "verbally abusive," and certainly many (if not most) children think parents are "abusive" in many things that say. Getting yelled out for being on the computer too late is "verbally abusive" to many kids. Further, you fail to explain why this cannot be handled within their family, rather than outsiders trying to step in. Basically, there is no substance to your allegations (not that anyone here could guess your chances even if there was any substance).

You certainly have a CHANCE. However, you should consult with a local attorney. Many facts that you did not mention need to be examined.
