Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

I just got custody of my son, who is Bi-Polar and has Behavior Disorder. Two or three months ago, while his mother had custody, his Step Father dropped him off at his Step-Grandmother's community pool and he ended up damaging some lights that have a $400.00 price tag. My Ex, her husband and his mother are now looking at me to foot the bill. I don't feel like it's my responsibility because he was is his mother custody and therefor should be her responsibility. Am I right?

You're likely right and wrong. Typically BOTH parents are responsible for damages a child causes.
