Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

Divorce

I quit claimed deeded the house to my ex-wife when we got divorced. the home loan was in my name as was an equity loan on the house. The divorce decree stated she was responsible for the house payment and I was responsible for half of the equity loan. She is in the process of refinancing the home in her name only, which in turn will pay off the previous equity loan. Am I still required to pay her half of the old equity loan, even though it gets paid off when she refinances the house, which she is choosing to do?

Re: Divorce

You generally have the obligation to pay all debts in your name, regardless of what the decree says.
