Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

husbands unknown financial obligations

I have reason to believe (I am certain) that my husband owes many debts that were acquired during our marriage without my knowledge, including the fact that he owes back taxes. How can I ensure that I will not be held responsible to repay these debts now or in the event of his death, job loss, etc. without divorcing him or should I seek divorce?

Re: husbands unknown financial obligations

If your name is not in the accounts, then you will not be held liable for them. Being married does not mean that you have to pay his debts. Whether you should get divorced is a separate issue with many factors.
