legitimation order

I recently had my childrens last name changed to their biological fathers name, thinking that was all that needed to done to have him added the their birth certificate. The judge ordered the name change but advise that I still needed a legitimation order. What is that and what can I do so I can get their father added to the birth certificate.

What he's saying is the mother can't just put a man's name on the birth certificate. The father must acknowledge paternity by bringing a legitimation petition. You need to find out if he is willing to acknowledge through legitimation. Feel free to contact me for more information.

Only a father can file a legitimization. If he's agreeable, have him contact my office to discuss this. Remember that the same lawyer cannot represent both of you.
