Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

Pre-Marriage question

I am planning on getting married soon. I have a large tax debt to the State as well as a bankruptcy on my record. My question is, will these debts transfer over to my future wife once we are married? Will my debts become hers or is there any document we can draw up that can protect her?

Thanks,

Mike

Re: Pre-Marriage question

Your debts will remain yours. However, don't buy a house, e.g., in both of your names because a lien against you will attach to the home. For a more detailed explanation, consult with a local attorney.
