Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Georgia

I was arrested in Sep 2008 for two counts of transaction card theft, which were felonies. In Jan of 2009 they were plead down to misdemeanors. I completed all probation and my case was closed in Dec of 2009, and I received a letter saying so. It is now Oct of 2010 and I am looking for a job, which I keep getting rejected for due to my background. I checked it and it is saying I still have the two felonies and that they have active warrants. I called, and there was basically a hiccup and the right papers were not filed by either the courts or the probation department, so it never even shows that I went to court and it is stating that my felonies went to a grand jury. I was wondering if I could sue the county for their negligence, since I have been denied numerous jobs due to it and I am currently in financial ruins because of their misfiled paperwork. Please let me know.

No, you cannot successfully sue the county for their negligence. You should focus your attention on having the mess cleaned up and moving on.

Best of luck.******The above is for informational purposes only and does not create an attorney-client privilege.*****
