Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Georgia

How do I sue an airline

What type of lawyer do I contact to file a lawsuit against an airline carrier? I recently traveled overseas for my wedding and the airline lost my bags, promised a variety of 'make goods' of which none were delivered. I eventually had to switch my wedding party for there clothes never arrived and the process inflicted severe emotional damage to me and my family. I just want to recoup my costs and the make the airline deliver on its promises. Which type of lawyer do I contact

Re: How do I sue an airline

I would first suggest that "sueing the airline" is not the best place to begin. Since you are seeking to recoup your costs and make the airline provide what it promised, - make a formal written complaint to the airline. You may have to do a little research, but address your complaint to the highest ranking customer service/complaint department that you can reach. Send your letter registered mail return receipt requested so that you can prove the letter was received. In your letter give a reasonable time frame for the airline to address your problems - or thereafter you will pursue the matter legally. Be reasonable (not overly agressive) in your letter. If your problems are not addressed to your satisfaction, your letter will at least be proof that you have attempted to resolve the issues, but the airline is being unreasonable.

You also might want to check the back of your tickets as well as the ticket jackets for language addressing the loss of baggage. There are lots of disclaimers on those tickets which the airline will rely on the defend their actions.

As to what "type of lawyer" to contact, there really isn't any specialty area involved here.
