Legal Question in Employment Law in Georgia

How can I get wages owed to my from my employer?

Are there any laws that help the employee to get paid by the employee? Georgia local department of wages told me to go to court. I worked for my employeer from March 1999 to Dec. 1999. He sold the big Hertz (used) buses. I was on an hourly wage of $10.00 per hour and I kept a daily spreadsheet of my hourly wages. Throughout my employment with him it was not unusual that he would owe me a couple thousand dollars, and when he sold a bus he would write me a check for the wages due. In Nov.1999 he went out of the country for over a week and told me he would pay me when he returned since he was closing a huge deal. He came back and still did not pay me saying he did not have the $3500. he now owned me. I told him I would not return to work until I got payment. Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years came and went. He went back overseas in January and a few trips to California. Bottom line it is May almost June and he still hasn't paid me.
