Legal Question in Employment Law in Georgia

Wrongful firing???

Among the duties in my job description when I was hired was HR - I discovered one day the a person who did a lot of hiring was not gathering I-9 information - thinking it was part of my job I notified him, explained that we needed the information - he got PO'd and threw a fit - I got in trouble by the owner of the co. for upsetting him. I also discovered he had used the same SSN on 3 different people, one of which was his sister. Yes, more trouble for me. I was told when I was fired that I made a HUGE mistake for upsetting this guy and the owner. There are 2 owners, one admitted that it was a shame that I PO'd the other owner by upsetting her ''pet''. The owner that fired me said it was ashame also because he liked me and thought I was doing a fine job.

I have a lot of this info in emails and I was planning to go to the INS, HomeLand Secutiry and Social Security with the information.

The guy who broke federal laws has a job and I'm out - can I sue them for this?

Re: Wrongful firing???

it is possible. There are wistle blower protections. I am not sure if it would apply in your case but it would be interesting to look into.
