Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Georgia

Eviction Process in Georgia

I have a friend that has been staying with me temporarily to assist me with my kids as I travel. I do not pay her as I am a single Mom but I have been paying her rent on own apartment. She is using one of my extra cell phone lines as hers was turned off due to non payment. She has not worked in 4 months and now wants to give up her apartment and live with me full time. I am a recent widow and do not want any house guests. She has no possessions in my house. Do I have an issue under GA eviction law if she moves in with me temporarily and later I want her to leave. I own the house and she has been living in my house as a guest since for the last 120 days. If she still helps me with the kids, do I just put her stuff in storage so I dont have to go through eviction proceedings? She wants to now store some of her furniture in my house. My intuition says "NO"! What does the law say what I can and cannot do in Georgia to evict a house guest? Kindly advise.

Is she is living with you, even as on a temporary basis, you will need to follow the proper eviction proceedings. Unless she is violating some term of whatever verbal lease agreement you have, you will have to provide her at least 60 days' written notice to vacate.
