roomate skipped out on lease

both roomate and myself signed 1yr leasefor property...he never got a job. we are 4 mos. behind in rentand he left in the middle of the night. am i (remaining in the apartment) responsible for the entire amount of the back rent + any future rent monies within the time frame of the lease...

I'm afraid you likely are. If you signed the lease as joint tenants, you would each be jointly and severally liable on the lease, so your landlord can demand all rents from you. Your only recourse may be to sue your former roommate in magistrate court for his obligations to you.
