Legal Question in Personal Injury in Georgia

broken tooth...

I just recently was playing at a University gym with a few of the guys. After clearing a shot, one of the guys jumps up and elbows me in my mouth. I felt really strange for a second and spit out my tooth. I just recently went to the dentist on tuesday and a root canal was done. Next thursday I will get the crown put in. The bill was about $1600, but with insurance, the deductible was about $850. I talked to the guy that broke my tooth and asked him to pay the deductible. Do I have any legal standing in the situation? What should I do?

Injuries are a risk of engaging in sports. Basketball is a contact sport. Unless the guy came after you with the intent of injuring you (well beyond comitting a foul) -- which you post nothing about -- you probably just need to deal with it. At the risk of being harsh, if you can't accept sports injuries, or getting fouled in a basketball game, without thinking about suing, you probably should consider not participating.
