Legal Question in Personal Injury in Georgia

My wife was in an auto accident 10NOV09. It was the other drivers fault. Her insurance company waited 2 weeks to pick up the car and another two weeks before they offered a settlement. We rented a van to replace that van during this time. The insurance company only offered to pay for 14 days of rental even though it was 30 day before they offered a settlement. Can they do that? Don't they have to pay for the rental until they offer a settlement? This was in Georgia.

You learned why it is important to see a lawyer at the time of an accident and not negotiate directly with insurers. At this point, complain to the state insurance commissioner about the insurer. You're really asking this way too late, as the rental is something you should have negotiated on the 1st day of 2 of the case and had the rental company direct bill them. As a general rule, you can't rent a van, but only a small car, so that may be why you were offered less.

(You also didn't ask the more important question, about injuries. You definitely need a lawyer for that.)

You should at least consult with a local attorney.
