Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Georgia

Going through a divorce

I want to make a will that excluded my wife

Is that practical when the court hasn't ruled on who has what

This is a time that you HAVE to have a lawyer. You NEED one. This is NOT a pro se project (neither the divorce nor the will).

It is possible to write a will in contemplation of divorce. Worded right it can be valid now AND later. Bear in mind since your wife can possibly bypass it until the divorce, how effective it is depends on how well your lawyer covers things.

Absolutely! You need a will to make sure that your wife receives the most minimal amount under the law. You need to speak to your family law attorney about this but if he or she does not draft wills, then go and get an estate planning attorney.
